HOGS for Service Dogs

Ride to Benefit US Kennels Inc.

The HOGS for Service Dogs ride began at Rommel Harley-Davidson Delmarva in Salisbury, MD and completed at Mission BBQ just slightly north of Rommel. This event took place on Sunday, July 23rd and benefited the non-profit organization US Kennels Inc. The registration process was organized and easily navigated with water and snacks available for participants. A flyer was available that included the schedule of events and thanks to their supporters along with a map of the Ride. Make sure you take a look at the sponsors of this event. It was evident from the speakers and the turn out that US Kennels and their mission is important to many in the community. After speakers and the national anthem, kick-stands were up at 11:30 am and we were off on an adventure!

The Ride

The 58-mile ride included some beautiful scenery around the Wicomico County area. This was a police escorted ride, they did a great job of dealing with traffic and keeping us all safe!

Police Escorted Ride

170 Bikes + and plans to do it again!!

This was their inaugural ride; it was an amazing turn out with over 170 bikes participating in the ride. My understanding is that they intend to make this a recurring event. So, if you missed this one watch for the next one and make sure you are there!

Community

The motorcycle community routinely comes together to ride and support great causes. This was a HOG sponsored event. HOG stands for Harley Owners Group. Just because the ride was sponsored by HOG and it began at a Harley dealership does not mean that other types of bikes were not welcome. I saw several Indians, Hondas, Suzuki’s and other bikes too within the crowd of bikes. There were sport bikes, cruisers and adventure bikes in the mix. There were younger riders and older riders. The important thing is that we all enjoy our motorcycles, a beautiful day and the opportunity to support a great cause, such as US Kennels Incorporated.

Check out their website to learn more about this organization and opportunities to donate, time, needed items or money to support the cause: www.USKennelsInc.org

It costs approximately $15,000 to train a service dog for a veteran or first responder.

Mission BBQ

The ride completed at Mission BBQ in Salisbury, MD just north of Rommel Harley-Davidson Delmarva. The staff there was absolutely wonderful and helpful trying to get us all through the line for food.
